Kristin and Ian’s Greysolon Ballroom Wedding

City: Duluth, MN Venue:

Bride and groom first dance photo at indoor wedding reception and dance.

Ian and Kristin met while they were both attending college in the Duluth/Superior area. They knew each other as friends for several years and began dating in 2013 after Kristin graduated from nursing school. Neither one of them recalls their first meeting!

Ian proposed in August of 2015. The happy couple had bought a house together the year before, and one late summer evening, Ian suggested building a fire in the backyard. They were sitting outside making smores, and Ian asked for his marshmallow stick. Kristin left to grab it, and when she returned, he was down on one knee asking her to marry him. She obviously said yes! He proposed with his grandmother’s ring, which he had hidden in their basement, waiting for the perfect time to pop the question. Kristin admitted to probably walking by it dozens of time without realizing it!

Kristin walked down the aisle in her gorgeous gown at the United Presbyterian Church in Superior, WI. The beaming couple planted a rose bush together during the ceremony to symbolize their blooming and undying love for one another. From there, the couple and their loved ones made the transition over to the Greysolon Ballroom to celebrate the saying of “I do.” Congratulations, Ian and Kristin!

Addam and Dawn’s Greysolon Moorish Room Wedding

City: Duluth, MN Venue:

Addam and Dawn met for the first time in spring of 2013. Addam was working at the Dungeon’s End Game Store, which is where they first met. At the time, both Addam and Dawn were seeing other people. Dawn thought that he was nice, fun to talk to, funny, and cute, so she took his business card to keep in touch because she felt he was going to be important to her. A few months passed and they were both single, so Dawn contacted him and they started talking a lot. They officially started dating on October 22, 2013, so their wedding day is also their three year anniversary.

Addam tried to keep the plans of his proposal a secret, but he ended up asking Dawn to help pick out the ring, knowing her well enough to know that she likes certain styles and wanting to make sure she would be happy with the choice. After they had picked out the ring, Addam kept it for about a month, waiting for the perfect time to propose. One day when they were getting ready to go out for the day, Addam took Dawn’s hands into his and began saying very sweet, loving things. Dawn, in her excitement, blurted out, “Are you doing what I think you’re doing?!” Addam likes to joke that her little outburst ruined the moment because he immediately lost track of his speech and just handed her the ring. It was an honest and heartfelt proposal, and the outburst somehow made it all the sweeter.

This geeky couple decided to have their wedding at the Greysolon Moorish Room in Duluth, MN. The couple, both proud nerds, had Dr. Who themed wedding essentials, including an origami bouquet with all the Dr. Who characters on it for Dawn, and a matching boutonniere for Addam. Fandoms collided at this celebration of love, and the couple will happily be together forever through time and space.

Erica and Jesse’s Spirit Mountain Wedding

City: Duluth, MN Venue:

Bride and groom portrait with green trees and grass in background.

Jesse proposed on Labor Day weekend of 2015 in New Ulm, where the couple had planned on touring the Schell’s brewery and exploring the town. Jesse had driven up to Duluth the day before and picked up Erica’s grandmother’s engagement ring from the 1940’s, with all of the original stones, to use to propose. Erica’s mom had been wearing the engagement ring and wedding band for the past 15 years since her grandmother died. Jesse had the engagement and wedding ring separated, and he proposed with the engagement ring.

On Sunday afternoon, the couple was waiting for their tour of the Schell’s brewery to begin, and they started walking and soon found a flower garden with a gazebo above a beautiful garden. The couple went up to the gazebo and began dancing to polka music, which was being played by a band near the brewery. They began slowly dancing, and that’s when Jesse got down on one knee and proposed.

The wedding took place at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, MN. It was held at the wedding deck, overlooking the city of Duluth on a perfect summer day. A huge shoutout goes to Mariah at Northland Special Events for making the day magical and helping it to run smoothly, and a huge congratulations goes to the happy couple as they start their new life together.

Arianne and Adam’s Clyde Iron Works Wedding

City: Duluth, MN Venue:

Bride and groom portrait with bride's veil covering couple.

Adam and Arianne met for the first time when they started working together in July of 2013. Arianne said she had an immediate feeling about him when they first met, which eventually blossomed into a beautiful relationship. They learned that they both rode the same motorcycle and owned the same pickup truck while playing for the same volleyball team. From there, sparks flew and they quickly fell for each other.

Adam proposed to Arianne on a trip to Egypt. They were walking along the shores of the Red Sea, and he slipped the ring into a shell and placed it in a group with some others. Upon discovery of the shell, Adam popped the question and the rest is history.

The wedding ceremony took place at Clyde Iron Works in Duluth, MN. It was truly the perfect Duluth day complete with the happy couple’s great dane as the ring bearer.

It was an honor to celebrate this couple’s love for each other. Congratulations and best wishes!
