Eric and Deanna’s Duluth Wedding

Deanna and Eric were in graduate school when they first met. Both were pursuing degrees in the Human Resource Development field and were in some of the same classes. During a semester final, they took notice of each other as they handed in their tests at the same time. A casual conversation in the hallway afterward led to a whole lot more when the two began dating soon after the New Year in 2011.

In 2013 these lovebirds took a trip to California. Deanna was so happy to be in the sand with the water crashing at her legs on Pebble Beach that Eric suddenly knew he wanted to marry that girl. Fast- forward to 2014, when on a short trip back to the same spot, Eric got to fulfill his vision of a proposal on the beach. Deanna said “Yes!” and they celebrated their new engagement over lunch with good friends.

The proposal happened near the Pacific Ocean, and their big day was held along the shores of Lake Superior. The Fitger’s courtyard was perfect for some romantic photos, and the intimate ceremony was laid-back and relaxed among the flowers of the Rose Garden, near Duluth’s Leif Erikson Park and iconic Lake Walk. Eric and Deanna were happy to just enjoy their parents’ company and have this beautiful event be only about their love for each other. I am honored to have been able to capture this special day for them.

Kevin and Jenn’s Summer Nuptials

This lovely couple met on New Year’s Eve at a casual get-together that Kevin’s roommate was hosting. Right away there was a spark between these two. They talked for most of the night and went out on their first date just a few days later.

While on vacation in Florida, Jenn got a wonderful surprise when Kevin proposed on the beach at sunrise. They had talked about the possibility of marriage, but she had no clue that it would be happening on the trip. The couple would later get something that would surprise them both. A guest at the resort happened to photograph the special moment and somehow Jenn’s father, who jokes often about “working” for the FBI, got a hold of the picture. What happy luck!

Their luck certainly held for their wedding day. The Minneapolis Event Center was the perfect spot near Saint Anthony Main. The beautiful views of the mighty Mississippi River and the Minneapolis skyline were spectacular and everyone enjoyed the unique surroundings. The weather was warm, the sun was shining, and love was in the air for the happy couple and their guests.

Bobby and Sarah’s Fall Engagement

Bobby and Sarah first met when they were only six years old. They grew up in the same town and had several mutual friends but they didn’t really notice each other until their freshman year of college. A friendship began to develop over late-night bonfires and disc golf outings. At some point, the feelings they had for each other turned from platonic to romantic. While watching the fireworks on the Fourth of July in 2009 their affection for one another was officially ignited.

Bobby’s proposal was perfect. It was early September and the day was spent at the family cabin. After some four-wheeling around the lake and cleaning up the pontoon boat, Bobby convinced Sarah to go out for a ride just before sunset. They dropped anchor and snuggled up to watch the sun go down. Bobby diverted Sarah’s attention for a moment and when she turned around he was down on one knee.

It was short and sweet. He said “These have been the best five years of my life, will you spend the rest of it with me?”. Sarah’s response was along the lines of “Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god YES!”, and she then yelled “I’m getting married!” across the lake. They spent the rest of the evening star-gazing on the dock and being thankful they were together.

This was such a fun engagement shoot with these two! Jay Cooke State Park was absolutely gorgeous with the leaves changing and crisp fall breezes. Congratulations and I am looking forward to the wedding soon!

Erik and Kelli are Married!

October 5, 2015City: Shakopee, MN Venue: Saint Peders Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stonebrooke Golf Course

Erik and Kelli met on E-harmony. Erik had moved to Minneapolis from Milwaukee and was looking to meet new people. Kelli, on a whim, decided to join the site to see what the hype was all about because she had friends who’d joined and told her good things about it. Three days after Kelli joined she was matched with Erik and a few weeks later they went on their first date and really hit it off. The two started dating in November of 2011 and were engaged a week after Valentine’s Day in 2014.

Erik planned a romantic proposal at his cabin and had his whole family in on the plan. The weather wasn’t cooperating on the drive and Kelli begged Erik to turn around and go home because the roads were terrible! They did get there eventually and headed out for some snowmobiling with the family. During one stop to take some pictures, Erik pretended that the sled wasn’t starting and asked Kelli to look in the back for the tool kit. When she turned around he was on one knee! Surprise!

Out came the champagne and glasses right there on the trail to celebrate. Another surprise awaited Kelli when they returned to the cabin. Erik’s mom and sister had decorated the whole place with hearts, candles, and pictures of the couple. Then they all had an amazing dinner together to celebrate the engagement. What a thoughtful proposal!

While there was no sledding at the wedding, these two had an exciting and happy day on August 29th, 2015. The storms stayed away and sunshine presided over their fun celebration with family and friends. The Golf Club grounds had many beautiful spots to capture this memorable occasion and the bride and groom were smiling for every moment.

Asa and Allison’s Arboretum Wedding

September 29, 2015City: Excelsior, MN Venue: Bayview Event Center, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

Allison and Asa met when Allison’s theatre tour traveled through Asa’s hometown. He was working as a counselor at the performing arts camp that was hosting Allison’s residency and was originally supposed to be starting a new job that week. But, as fate would have it, plans changed and there he was. Who knew he would meet the love of his life that week by playing the ukulele? Allison found her Prince Charming when he saved her from having to play the unfamiliar instrument on stage. Asa used his experience with playing guitar to save the day and won her heart in the process!

Jason Mraz’s song “I’m Yours” was their song long before it became overplayed on the radio, so when his tour came to town in October Asa secretly bought tickets. After a day of conquering corn mazes he surprised Allison by taking her to the concert. Afterward, Asa said he wanted to make one more stop before heading home, saying that he’d never been on the Stone Arch Bridge at night. They had walked about halfway across the bridge when Asa stopped, got down on one knee, and proposed. What a perfect evening full of perfect surprises!

On August 28th, in the presence of a reverend, a cantor, and their friends and family, these two lovebirds got married under Asa’s handmade chuppah. The beautiful surroundings of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and perfect weather made the day all the more wonderful. The day also had some surprises in store! Allison gifted Asa with a ukulele in memory of their meeting and I was glad I could capture him opening that gift. The look on his face is fantastic! The most amazing surprise came when these two were breaking the glass and at that same moment a tree branch came crashing down in spectacular fashion. Everyone was certainly surprised and it made their nuptials even more special.

A toast to Asa and Allison! Your big day was truly blessed and I was honored to be a part of it. Mazel Tov!
