Meg and Peter met while working together at Minnesota Public Radio. Meg, an editor, and Peter, a reporter, spent more than a year having an almost weekly traditional breakfast with a couple of friends. When they started dating, after an evening of lamb dinner, a secret office romance was kindled, which was kept under wraps until their beautiful September wedding.
The happy couple snuck off along the scenic North Shore of Lake Superior to enjoy an intimate wedding oasis in Grand Marais, MN. Meg and Peter decided on a small destination wedding for their big love for each other. They took a trip to the small village of Hovland, north of Grand Marais, where they enjoyed a romantic stroll on the Hovland Dock, and successfully evaded the commotion of a large wedding. While shooting photos at the dock, the couple sported matching umbrellas to shield the rain, until the sun burst through the clouds and shone brightly on the couple’s face; it was a beautiful moment.
The wedding party included a total of ten guests and was officiated, in part, by the groom’s father. This lovely destination wedding, described by the couple as a “Delightful weekend away,” took place at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Highway 61 alongside Lake Superior.
Peter proposed to Meg on Artists’ Point in Grand Marais, MN, a beautiful stony beach, which the couple returned to in their wedding photo shoot. This intimate wedding ceremony was a wonder to shoot. The bride herself admitted to being a bit hesitant to be in front of the camera, while her job usually requires her to be behind it. This hint of camera shyness is nowhere to be found in the many glowing bride and groom portraits, where happiness is evident in the smiles of these two newlyweds.
The wedding reception was held at The Crooked Spoon Cafe in Grand Marais, where the couple rented the upper room to host their intimate wedding party. Here, the merriment of the newlywed’s was evident as they enjoyed second to none food, and took part in post-wedding festivities.
