Anton and Megan Sunrise Elopement

City: Two Harbors, MN

It was a week before the family trip to Las Vegas, and Anton joked Megan couldn’t go together unless they were married. Being an impulsive couple, they would just end up getting hitched Vegas. As the days counted down, the conversation shifted toward reality, and the engagement became official. But instead of getting married in Vegas, the two eloped in a sunrise ceremony overlooking the North Shore of Lake Superior just outside of Two Harbors.

It was a casual affair with plenty of laughter and a few misadventures. The wedding was scheduled for Saturday, and we started in dark during POURING rain. We hoped the clouds would break for even a moment. Instead, the wind whipped off the lake, and we just looked at each other and laughed. “Do you want to get married tomorrow?” I said. On Sunday morning, the sunrise was flawless, and everything fell into place. It was perfect, even when the pie table caught on fire. Whoops.

Jason and Heather’s Lake Superior Wedding

City: Two Harbors, MN Venue:

Pouring rain, power outages and rainbows made for a bumpy evening at Jason and Heather’s wedding. Fortunately, the wild weather at Grand Superior Lodge held off until the reception and added the charm of their whimsical day. The day was complete with yard games, a wet bonfire, local beer, and more hugs than your average nuptials. I am so excited for you to continue your journey together and thank you for including us.

Don and Paige Wet and Windy Larsmont Wedding

City: Two Harbors, MN Venue: ,

Sparks flew at a Halloween party, and these two lovebirds have been together ever since. It wasn’t until five years later when Don proposed while camping with their dog at sunset. Their wedding at Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior could best be described as wet and windy but also small and intimate. The wind off the lake forced the ceremony indoors, but these two were still game to take photos outside in the 30+ MPH gusts. It takes a dedicated couple to make that happen. Worth it.

I’m so excited for you two and wish you all the happiness in the world!!!

Ted and Chelsea’s Larsmont Cottages Wedding

City: Two Harbors, MN Venue:

Does love at first sight exist or is it merely the stuff of little girl’s dreams and fairytales? The moment Ted and Chelsea first locked eyes during intermission at a MN Wild game it was clearly meant to be. The details vary depending on who you ask, but both will agree that Ted motioned for her to come over and she came running. Fast forward a few years, and it’s still easy to find the light and smile in each other’s eyes when they are together.

Chelsea’s brother officiated the ceremony at Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior. It was a short and sweet followed by yard games and smores by the fire, everything anyone needs for a destination wedding in the North Woods on Minnesota.

Jacob and Kimberly’s Larsmont Cottages Wedding

City: Two Harbors, MN Venue:

Jacob and Kimberly’s didn’t mind the wet and foggy weather at their wedding and even embraced it. If rain on your wedding day is good luck, then these two are set for a long time. They had planned an outdoor ceremony at Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior, and these two rolled with the punches when we forced indoors. Before the final decision was made to move inside, I asked Kimberly if they still wanted to do her first look at Stoney Point and she boldly replied– “We’ve got umbrellas.” YES! That’s the attitude that makes for great photos!

Despite the rain, their day was filled with love and laughter, and plenty of unique details including a traditional Danish wedding cake called a Kransekage made by Jacob’s grandmother, and a ring box made Kimberly’s mom. In the end, it’s the little details, and the love shared between two people and two families that make the day, not the weather.

Thank you two for sharing your wet and wonderful day with us!
