Justin and Jonie’s Barn Wedding

City: Amboy, MN Venue:

Justin and Jonie’s love story according to Jonie.

Justin and I met in April of 2011. It was a situation where all the stars had to align and I’m so happy they did! He caught my eye and I couldn’t stay away. Every night that week I went to his house, he made me supper, we sat around a bonfire, I sang to him (which he still loves) we fell in love. A short while later I met his girls Karlie and Avery who were 4 and 8. It didn’t take long for them to find their way into my heart as well. After about 3-4 years myself and the girls found ourselves asking Justin, “When are you going to propose!?” We had to wait a few more years. In February of 2017 Justin and I took a small vacation up north to visit some friends in Park Rapids MN. We participated in an ice fishing contest and rode snowmobiles on some of the most beautiful trails. We made our way to the Mississippi headwaters and I thought to myself this is it, it’s so beautiful, this is where he is going to propose to me. It didn’t happen, we got done looking at the beautiful scenery we got on our snowmobiles and continued on. I came home with no ring. I’m not going to lie I was a little bummed but I thought he has a better plan! A whole year later we were planning the same vacation, our friends moved to a new house in Bemidji MN, we couldn’t pass going to see them and the beautiful up north. I thought to myself he didn’t propose last year he won’t do it this year, boy was I wrong. He had it all planned, the first night he would take me back to the headwaters and propose. Between a flat tire the first night, spending time with friends and -30° Justin couldn’t find the perfect moment. A lot of improvising happened and on our way home he suggested we stop in Little Falls because that is something my dad would do. I thought yeah that would be fun. We got out walked down a cute little path, I took our picture and said “OK it’s freezing I’m ready to go”, he said, “One last thing before we go “Will you marry me?”

“Welcome to our beginning.”

Has and Janna Backyard Tent Wedding

City: Grand Rapids, MN Venue:

Has and Janna married in her childhood backyard overlooking Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids. These avid outdoors people also race canoes,so a poem entitled The Master Speed by Robert Frost was read during the ceremony. I cannot think of a better theme for all the adventures and misadventures that await.

No speed of wind or water rushing by
But you have speed far greater. You can climb
Back up a stream of radiance to the sky,
And back through history up the stream of time.
And you were given this swiftness, not for haste
Nor chiefly that you may go where you will,
But in the rush of everything to waste,
That you may have the power of standing still-
Off any still or moving thing you say.
Two such as you with such a master speed
Cannot be parted nor be swept away
From one another once you are agreed
That life is only life forevermore
Together wing to wing and oar to oar.

-Robert Frost

Has and Janna had the most unique and over-engineered canoe arch.

What’s better than a guest book? A guess paddle!

The ladies prepared many pots of rice before the ceremony.
